Leaving Traverstolo in the Reggio Emilio region, we made our way to Chianti wine country and the town of Radda, Italy. Here’s some shots along the way…

IMG_2952The Chianti countryside is hilly with gorgeous views everywhere. The roads wind over the hills and through valleys covered with vineyards and olive groves. You could wine taste for weeks at all the different wineries along the way. Take your time when driving, as bikers love to ride these roads. We arrived in Chianti to the last day of a big bike race and around 5,000 bikers were in the area for the event.

IMG_2985Several of the bikers were staying at our vacation rental, Il Paggino. We had a large two-bedroom apartment on the ground floor facing the road. I loved having the outdoor table and seating areas for each unit and we actually got better wi-fi reception outside. The interior furnishings were plain but functional and the kitchen had everything you needed. This rustic country house is just one kilometer from the historic hilltop town of Radda.

There are two hectares and a swimming pool and bbq area facing across the valley.
