Volpaia and Ristorante La Bottega, Chianti, Italy

Volpaia was just a five-minute drive from our vacation rental Il Paggino, just outside of Radda, Italy, so we drove over to explore one afternoon. This is a very small, quiet hilltop hamlet established in 1172 with a few restaurants, a bar, church, and historic castle with a winery.

The restaurant, Ristorante La Bottega, has a very nice website with lots of local information. http://www.labottegadivolpaia.it/homepage.php

Be sure and visit the Castello Di Volpaia for a tour and tasting. They offer renowned wine, olive oil, vinegar and grappa. On our walk around this scenic hamlet we passed one building where they looked to be bottling and the next shed was the grapes being processed.
