Sanibel Island Jan. 2016 ~ Blue Skies after the Storm

The day after the storm dawned bright and clear, and we ventured out to the beach. Crab traps had washed up all over the beach and there was lots of new shells and sea creatures to be found.

There were also lots of birds, which I love photographing…and what about that sweet birthday message to Mom someone left?

We took a drive around Sanibel and pulled into Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille on Rabbit Road just after they opened for lunch. Having read many of Randy Wayne White’s Florida thriller books, featuring Doc Ford, I was looking forward to sampling food from Doc Ford’s.

It was delish! We chose the outdoor patio as the weather had warmed up, and enjoyed our Cuban Sandwich, Yucatan Shrimp Tacos and Ceviche Cocktail. Highly recommend! I resisted the tempting rum drinks (I was verrrrry tempted), as they sounded sooo good! Next time and dinner!

So back to the beach to walk off lunch and read a bit! “A Rather Lovely Inheritance” is a perfect beach read, especially if you love Italy.

An amazing sunset…

And much later in the evening… dessert at Pinocchio’s, an island tradition for 33 years! And we can see why – the portions are huge, the flavors divine, and those homemade waffle cones…. I want some now!

Ok, we have eaten our way across the island – time to sleep!
