Nah Uxibal was full for the rest of the week, so we had to find accomoodations elsewhere for a few nights. We decided to check out the new Puerta Zama condo units that offered quite a few apartment choices down near Tulum Beach. The units are brand new, attractive and clean with a pool in the middle of each grouping. Some have great rooftop terraces and lower units have balconies. The only drawback to these apartments seems to be mosquitoes as they are a bit off the beach and in the jungle! So pack your bug spray!
We had lunch just down the road at El Capitan before packing up to go check out the public Tulum Beach for the afternoon.
The Tulum Public Beach (Playa) is on the left end of the beach road, almost to the back entrance of the Tulum Ruins. There is lots of open sand, restaurants and beach clubs and the water is beautiful. It’s a fun beach to people watch and enjoy the day. You can rent chairs, chaises, etc. from some of the beach clubs if you need shade. Or take a beach umbrella, as there are not many trees to take shelter from the harsh Mexican sun.
For dinner we chose a new place to try, or I should say places, as it a two-for-one combined restaurant of Mexican and Italian called La Querida/La Malquerida on the Tulum town main strip on the left. You can choose and order from either menu so we mixed it up a with a pizza and seafood ceviche and it was all good!
We saved room for our favorite dessert in Tulum, gelato at Panne e Cioccolato just down the street. You can always smell their homemade waffle cones baking from several doors down… Yummmmm!
Time for bed!
