If you want to see a whole new world, you need to explore scuba diving and Ambergris Caye is a diver’s heaven. We went on several dives and here are some shots from our underwater explorations. I don’t remember the name of the company we used, but they were very good and sent a photographer along with us and then shared their photos afterwards for us to have of our dives. One of the most exciting things to see was the huge loggerhead turtle.
That’s all for Belize! Happy Travels!
If you visit Ambergris Caye, scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing and requirements! We spent one day fishing with a local captain, “Tulu” and had a great day. Wally caught a big and little barracuda, several yellow tail snappers and I kept catching trigger fish, which we threw back. Tulu wanted to keep them to eat, but I thought they were too pretty!
After fishing, Tulu took us to Shark-Sting Ray Alley to snorkel. We didn’t realize that when he sent us in snorkeling that he was going to clean our fish and through all the “stuff” in the water to attract the rays, sharks and fish. Yikes! It was a bit scary but we did get to see a lot of things up close…
Wally petting a nurse shark…
We loved seeing the turtle – she came up to the side of the boat on our way back and Tulu stopped to let me jump in and photograph her.
She had a “traveler” riding along – a remora giving her a good cleaning
That’s all for this blog ~ next up, SCUBA DIVING!
In 2007 we ventured down to Ambergris Caye with friend to check out the island and do some scuba diving. We flew in via Tropic Air to their tiny airstrip, rented a golf cart and made our way to Caye Casa.
View flying into San Pedro on Tropic Air…
Caye Casa is located on the beach and the golf path runs through their yard.
Families from Guatemala walk about the island selling their fabulous textiles. We picked out several to take home.
